    Quicksilver Oil

Last night i ran low on oil... the only place that was open at 9:00PM carried quicksilver oil so i put a gallon in my 98 evinrude intruder... untill now the only oil that has been in it was XD25... it ran fine (if not better) but seemed to smoke more... will it be ok to run the remainig oil out of my boat (or run it again if the situation comes up) or should i drain it, don't want to hurt my motor

lastly what is the difference between XD25/50/100 and what can i run in a 150 intruder?.. i have always put 25 in it thats just because thats all i knew to run

    thanks fellas

    Re: Quicksilver Oil (jlayne)

Regular Qucksilver oil meets the TC-W3 specs, but is recommended by Merc for mid-range and smaller motors.

If your purchased Quicksiver Plus OIl, then that is good stuff for high speed large horsepower motors.

thanks fellas... just curious what is the difference between a TCW3 oil for a smaller engine and for a bigger engine.. it would seem to me that there wouldn't be much difference

    Re: Quicksilver Oil (jlayne)

I ran PremiumPlus premixed at 40-50:1 (depending on what kind of runnin I was going to do) in my Yamaha for 300hrs...Smoked like a biatch, idled rough, fouled plugs constantly...Switched to XD50, now a little smoke at cold start. Idles a lot smoother, starts easier, doesn't foul plugs, and doesn't look like a mosquito sprayer in long idle zones. I used to go maybe 40hrs on a set of plugs. The ones in their now have 50 hrs and look like new.

Must be the amount and the increased cost of higher quality additives.

I was wondering is XD 100 a full synthetic or a blend? In an owners manual it was described as a blend? Of course in reality I guess you can call almost all synth a blend when it comes down to it. Mobil 1 is like 98% synth 2% carrier oil.

You should be running XD-50, if price is not a problem the XD-100 is the absolute best oil you could use.
