looking for aluminum welding help

anyone know of someone in southern indiana or KY (live in shepherdsville) that might be able to repair a tear or two in an aluminum pontoon. I heard welding aluminum can be tricky and don't want to buy the gear to do it myself. will pay. Dave

Check some dealers in the Louisville area, I know there is one in Crestwood.
We use a local prop repair shop here in Somerset, but that's a 3 hour drive.

Check your local welding shops. Aluminum is not that had to weld with today's equipment.

Dave what you are looking for is someone with experience in Tig welding thin gauge aluminum. The thing is, aluminum is pretty porous which equals dirt collection.

If someone don't know what they are doing you will end up with a big patch covering the hole they caused with burn through.

I would go with a shop your local boat dealer recommends.

thanks for all the advice. I've got a couple leads now and discovered that its not a big deal for someone who knows how to TIG with shielding gas. For the curious, I just found a whole set of 2 year old seats, from a Bennington P'toon, for $500. Thats gonna save me either lots of time or money, I dind't know which route I was gonna take to get seating that the wife would be happy with make or buy. I got the pontoon to get me more time on water, with the kids now, my tournaments participation has decreased 95%. I get to fish from my Ranger maybe 1-2 times /month. Later Dave
