new calipers, rotor hubs, pads, bearing buddies....problems

I have a 2002 Triton tandem axle trailer with brakes. I just purchased all the parts listed in the description installed them and bleeded the system. Now, I am having the problem of the rotors getting scorching hot and almost locking up while trailering. The bearings were all packed before installation and proper amount of grease was added in bearing buddy. Can't figure it out. When the rotors get hot the blue indicator is pushed out with grease relieving from the front with all the pressure build up, once they cool down the blue indicator goes back to normal. One thing I did notice with the new parts I bought, the inner brake pads are larger than the original brake pads. The originals were the same size inner and outer. Called Waymire and they said that is how they are sold now. Actuator does work and is not malfunctioning. I just don't know why the rotors are getting so hot. I called Waymire where I bought the parts and they have not been any help. I feel like it might be the inner pads being too large and not having enough clearance between pad and rotor, I don't know. Help!

Yep. I had fits with one hub & bearing set after installing a new caliper and discovered this. I replaced the larger pad with an old, smaller pad & the problem disappeared.

Thats funny then cuz when I spoke to Waymire about this and explained my situation to them, they said I was the first to complain of this problem with the new larger inner brake pads.....WRONG. Well I have scorched those rotors smokin hot about 4 or 5 times now. You think I did any damage to bearings etc? I am going to tear it all down tonite and take a look. I am going to call Waymire probably too and see if they will send me a set of outer smaller pads that I will use for the inners.

This is the absolute best thing you can do.

Had your same problem - currently in the process of upgrading to UFP DB-35s in lieu of the original DB-42s that came on the trailer.

Rotor for the DB-35s is a bit thinner as well - kind of plays into the whole brake pad thickness thing you're dealing with.

    DB-35 on the right:

You might have damaged the bearings or they might be just fine. Inspection is the way to tell.

Pretty easy to test if the thicker pad is the problem if you still have the old calipers. Remove one of the smaller pads from the old calipers, pop it into the new caliper, and go for a ride.

Well its not that easy to just pop the old one in bc the old calipers were seized up and the pads were trashed. But what I did do is completely block off the pin from moving forward or backward on the actuator to disengage the braking system. I drove to the lake and stopped a couple times to check on them. The lake was about 10 minutes away. Rotors were quite warm when I got there but nothing like they were before in terms of being scorching hot. What should that be telling me? I waited for them to cool down before I backed the boat down into the water......then as I backed down one tire went flat When it rains it pours I guess
