I have a 2008 Marine Master tandem trailer with Vault oil bath hubs. This is my first experience with oil bath hubs and was wondering if I needed to service them. They have a lot of miles on them. The literature I have doesn't answer any of my questions. Does the oil need to be changed in them or do I need to inspect it? If so, how do I do it?
The Vault is not an "oil Bath" system, it is a mixture of oil and grease,about a 30/70 mix. NO service is required unless there is a problem. The warranty is 5 years and can be extended to 10 years by sending in $50 to UFP along with your registration, it's on the last page of your owners manual.
You can actually run them 10 years without service, I know this as I was the Warranty Supervisor with UFP for 7 years while the Vault system was being developed,tested and put into production. There was a problem at first with the seal lips and UFP as since developed the proper seal, so, if there is no problem, jiust keep on truckin...
If you have a problem, dont touch it, and calll Dennis at UFP 800-835-9211 ext 16, he will walk you through the proper repairs as it does take specail tools and lubricant you cannot get anywhere excepy UFP or thier distributors.
