    Coupler stuck to hitch ball

I'm having a hard time getting the coupler off the ball after each trip. I back it in to my garage, there is a slight grade, maybe 5-10 degrees, going up to the garage.

I tried greasing the ball/coupling before going out, I adjusted the coupler nut to be a quarter turn loose after snug, I lift the jack up and down, but the only way to get it off is the chock the trailer wheels, remove the hitch pin and pull the truck forward, then the hitch falls out of the truck and off the coupler.

Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

You need to chock the wheels and then pull forward just a little to bring the brake actuator back out from under the tongue. The actuator is pushed back under the tongue and this is keeping the hitch latch from opening all the way. Once pulled forward, unlatch the coupler and jack the trailer off the ball hitch. PITA but that is what I have to do to mine as well, because of the grade I back up also.

Another way to do it is to use manual lock out for breaks before backing into the garage. This prevents the actuator from being depressed. That's what I do.

If none of that works you may need to change your ball.Over time they will sometimes get out of shape.
