I had a coil harness go bad on me about 2 years ago. I have been chasing a gremlin for the last 2 weeks, #4 coil showed open on the tech's computer indicating a bad coil. As it works out the harness had 3 of the 5 wires that connect to the coil plug go bad. One wire was broke up about 1 1/2" above the plug and the other 2 were seperated about 1/2" off the pin connecter inside the plug. It just seems odd to me that I've had this problem twice. They would have conductivity until the wire was moved then loose conductivity. The motor is a 07 300xs. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a problem Merc has been encountering? Just courious. Also I guess when it appears a coil has gone bad based on the computer just don't replace it, test the wireing harness for breaks in the wire. It would give the same reading, at least it did on mine.
