    Tackle Storage System

Just got a new to me 2005 Champion SX with 225 VMAX. Wanting to put in a tackle storage system like the Cook's or easy view, haven't decided. I was wondering, do you screw the product into the underside of the compartment lids. How do you know that the screws will not go through to the other side of the deck? Which system do you guys prefer or is there another system that you guys think is better? Are Cook's or Easy View a sponsor on the board?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

    Re: Tackle Storage System (Mikep79)

I've ordered the easy view tackle system http://www.easyviewtackle.com/index.html I am worried about the screws coming up through the lids as well. Easy view does come with some adhesive clips so I may have to use those. I could screw mount the system on the stress rib under the lids. I will let you know once I get it installed but it won't be for another few weeks. I'll post pics on here if I can figure out how to do that. I'll ask my 14 year old daughter to school me up!

I have an easyview system installed on my boat and yes you do drill screws in the stress ribs on the underside of the lid. The screws are short so you don't have to worry about the screws going through the lids, but they are strong enough to keep the system in place. I fish Lake Erie often and have never had a problem.

Cook's screws won't come through the deck if you follow the installation instructions and use the supplied screws. They are a sponsor, I have mine installed with the foam tape and they are very secure.

So it is an either or type of thing, you can either use the tape or screws, right. If the tape holds securely I think I'll just use the tape. Thanks 20 lb sack.

If the underside of your lids are metal, the tape will work fine. 3M makes some tough stuff.

Only caveat I'd have is I only use mine for spinnerbaits, it weighs a lot less than if you try to add 20-30 bags of plastics.

I used the 3M tape too, it is tough, I dont think it is ever coming off.
