How do you verify your tach reading 225 Pro XS

I have a 2010 225 Pro XS on a 200 Pro XL Stratos. Others with this combo and the same prop are getting more RPMS than I am. My speeds are consistent with these other guys so I am thinking that my tach may be off. How do you check this? No smartcraft gauges here. Standard gauges.

Three most commonly used choices to verify tachometer (in order of preference):

    1. Install Smartcraft Instrument (you really need one anyway... operating without Smartcraft is much like flying without an altimeter).

    2. Tachometer Test on the Computer Diagnostic System. This sends a 3000 RPM signal to the tach.... allowing verification at this RPM.

    3. Digital Inductive Tachometer, attached to the #1 spark plug wire. Many "higher end" timing lights are equipped with this feature.

I only got a SC 1000 , not that expensive but well worth every penny. That thing has been a very useful tool and has kept me out of trouble several times. JMHO Oh yea plug and play.

Where can I buy the smartcraft gauge set? There really isn't a ton of information out there on the smartcraft instruments. I have a 2010 225 Pro XS. I think I need the SC1000 speedometer and tach. Is this correct?

And are there other options here? I mean, I would like all of the gauges to match. What about trim, water pressure, etc?

We carry/sell the full line of Smartcraft Instruments.

The System Tach & Speed setup is nice.... but the newer MercMonitor is probably a much better choice (feature packed, and available with a NMEA-2000 Gateway for communication with a GPS display).

A full compliment of System Link Gauges is also available for ANY Smartcraft Instrument.

Drop me an email, or give me a call to discuss your particular dash/setup/wishes/
