    Padded rod box removal?

What kind of issues are going to arise with trying to remove the padded areas and replace with wood? Is it even possible?[img][/img]

I've removed the rear padded seats in my Procraft 215 combo and replaced with marine grade plywood 'cause I got tired of people stepping on my seats. I can now quickyl install and remove my seats. The key for me was doing the research to figure out how the seats were installed.

Suggest you look for the forum specific to the make of your boat and ask the guys there. Chances are someone has already done this.

P.S. Make sure you use Marine grade plywood or the synthetic stuff that West Marine sells so it doesn't warp with the moisture.

    Good luck!

Marine grade plywood weighs considerably more than regular Plywood. If you coat the regular plywood with a 2 part epoxy sealer then, apply fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin you double the strenght with no warpage of real increase in weight. If you use the synthetic Taco wood adhesives have a hard time adhering to it and makes it tough to apply carpet. From the looks of your boat the seat tops appear to fold into the center of the boat. It is a PITA but can be done.

Didn't know about the adhesives issue on synthetic. good Catch. I built a deck insert to move my pedestal back and the fiberglass resin/cloth was a bit PIA as well with the sanding & finishing but I'm certainly no craftsman either! LOL
