Will paint pigment work?
Generally it will not.
Gelcoat is polyester based and paint pigments can be various organic or chemical based. Using them may result in changing the cure rate or causing the gel to not adhere properly, or to yellow.
Any idea of where I can buy the correct pigment?

Wil this work with marine tex? My hull is black and I have a couple deep scratches I would like to repair. Can I tint marine tex to a pure black?
You can generally not get the MT to tint to a true black, the white is the one that can be tinted and they recommend you do not use more than 5 % tint to MT.
You can fill with Mt and skin coat with black gelcoat to match.
But if the scratches are not deep gouges, you're better off just using straight black gel to fill.
