I have a 1988 Skeeter SF 175 SX and will be using Seacast to do the transom repair. My question is: If any of you have used this product, how many gallons were needed?
Thanks!!

I dont think its possible to use it on the skeeters. You cant reach all the wood that would need to be removed in order to pour the seacast.
Join the club and just pull the top off and do it right.
Heres a link to my skeeter rebuild. Do a search tons of skeeters on here.

Thanks for the reply! I read your post the other day, very impressive work! I don't have the space to remove the top cap and do it right, or I would... I was hoping that I could remove the motor, cut the top of the transom cap off and dig out all the wood, even if it did take a couple days... I see that the transom does go all the way across the back, so this might not be an option. I just hate to junk the boat, other than the transom, I have put lots of hours and money into her. And, I know I can't get it back. Any idea what a shop would charge??

there is a way to pour seacast with removing inside skin to remove all the wood, using a mold to hold the pour then glassing it back in. But if your hearts not set on it, use wood...properly maintained wood transom will last a long time. My 30 year old Skeeter had a fairly solid transom but had 2 soft spots so went ahead and ripped it out for refit
you could just cut the back half of the top cap off and do it that way.
I have seen a post on here where someone did that, they are braver than me!

How would you get the inside skin off? Are the knee braces in the way?

yes the braces are kinda in the way. I think it would be impossible to do it correctly.Looking down into my bilge area you can only see 1/4 of the transom "skin". If the bilge acess was bigger in the skeeters i would say you may have a chance with the "mold" idea.
Im thinking JDAckerson's skeeter is a strada or something if its 30years old. He may have the bigger bilge area in his boat.
