Re: Champion 168 Work in progress (foxman623)

Foxman, I'd first try to clean up the shaft and saturate with WD40. I had the opposite problem. wouldn't stay down. The lever pushes down a little valve, probably plastic. Make sure it moves with the lever.

Are you speaking of your seat pedestals? If so, post a picture of the bottom of the pedestal. They're probably Swiveleaze Wedgelock.

If you're asking about the Live well valves, my old ones are T-H Marine and are being replaced with Flow-Rite. http://www.attwoodmarine.com/s...wedge

Lowrance and Eagle states that their units have to be on a switch in there manual and not hooked up to a constant power source .If that accessory switch was good I would use it . I think you are supposed to put both power supplies on that model on a switch .If you dont have a manual Eagle will have it on there website and it will show you the diagram I am talking about.

Ok part 1 answered, now on the panel, does the power go to the relay switch and then go to the on/off switch and then to the unit or accy?

Re: Champion 168 Work in progress (foxman623)

Got all the wiring finished today, Thank God, lol. That was a pain in the AZZ. Both depthfinders are on the accy switch ALONE. Got all the panel switches working and mostly new wires. And Both the front and console panel are wired and working. Everything will be buttoned up tomm and then waiting on the steering Cable. Got to hook up the fuel tank tommorrow. Then its Cleanup time, lol

On a seperate note, Do they make an INSERT for the middle part of the Front deck? I want to make the front deck biggger. Or will I have to ENGINEER one, lol

Re: Champion 168 Work in progress (foxman623)

Well got 90 % of the clean up done and was sucking so much old carpet with the shop vac, I decided to go ahead and get the carpet up on the fron deck. Got all the carpet up and cleaned up. I can't get the front seat base up. Some of the screws are stuck and some just spin. How can I get them out? I mean I can take a drill and bore them out, but how are they connected on the underside of the screw? Thanx

They should have lock nuts on the bottom under the deck. You should be able to access them through another compartment. If the wont break lose I would spray some penetrating oil on them.Your staying after it pretty good you'll be fishing out of that thing in no time.

Hope I'm not too late, I just went and checked mine, and they're screws. You can reach the underside in the front live well. If yours are screws as well, you may have to turn the ones that are stuck with vise grips from underneath and see if you can get some upward pressure on the ones that spin. I'd replace those with tapered head bolts and locking nuts, Stainless Steel of course.

as for the deck extention I dont think anything factory was made but it should be easy to fab. on my fish and ski I am going to run a 1/2 in aluminum angle down the sides and put 3/4 plywood across then put a cooler in it. that seems to be the only thing missing on these old champs. thought about turning my front live well in to a cooler also
