I use simple green diluted 50/50 and a magic Clean eraser and they look brand new after a good scrubbing.

What does armorall do to the seats? I've used it a couple of times on my boat and haven't noticed anything. I use back to black on the black plastic and rubber parts, didn't want to use it on the seats just because it's thicker and didn't want it to get all over my shorts.

    Re: cleaning seats (mgd7922)

WHen I bought my boat in 2004 I started using armor all. In 3 three years the seats had little cracks everywhere. Just replaced them and the only thing that will go on my new seats is 303 Aerospace Protectant. From what I've read its the silicone in Armor All that does the damage.

actually armor all has alcohol in it to help get it to dry when applied and wiped down... the alcohol actually takes the moisture out of the seat fabric and dries it out

    Products and verification

Been using AA for years...news to me...they dry so fast here...but humidity is often high so I see no damage after using weekly since Nov 2007...

(My BS antenna goes up when any product is trashed and the poster uses another...
if AA if harmful to boat seats then it must also be for truck seats...sooo maybe we
    need to verify this info)

AA pulls the moisture out of the vinyl and with time will cause them to crack. No BS just fact. I just replaced all of the seats on my Bass Cat because the guy that owned it before me always used AA and they had so many cracks in them it was painful to even sit on them. The first owner used Lemon Pledge and the seats looked like new when the guy I bought the boat from got it. In 3 years of using AA the seats were junk. Bass Cat recommends Lemon Pledge and thats all I will use now. Use AA if you want, its your boat and your wallet.

    Re: Products and verification (Olddawg)

I can go lemon Pledge...its also the best for boat windshields and general boat fiberglass...I just wonder why I have never read this about AA after 30 years of bassin and being a Web guy...just sayin.

I taught college science soooo am a cynic or shall we say, just curious.

Forgive me, its the science thing again...my rig is 4 years old with no cracks and all I use is AA....sooooooo.
I have contacted the maker at http://www.armorall.com/products/all/ with this inquiry:

It has been posted on BassBoat Central.com that "Armor All takes the moisture out of vinyl boat seats because it contains alcohol".
Please comment to me so I can verify or clarify or rectify this post so I may pick wisely for my own boat seats... reelman1946@att.net

    Re: Products and verification (reelman)

Like I said before, I don't care what you use or why. I'm sure AA isn't going to admit that their product caused damage to vinyl seats so asking them is a moot point. As stated BCB does not recommend AA but does recommend Lemon Pledge and since they make the seats its good enough for me. I have never been a professor but I do have common sense.
