I just called and they want $90 a sheet for marine grade plywood
Since it is a casting deck, can i use regular plywood and just seal it.
Thanks
Rich

you can do what ever you wish! reg plywood wont last as long
Regular ply is not quite as strong as marine ply as the regular has some voids in it and the marine does not. If the regular ply thickness will support what you need then it should be fine. ALL ply and wood that may be exposed to moisture needs to be coated with resin to protect it from water. Marine grade ply is not made with any different glues. Many of the subfloors in older boats are made with regular ply.

Use Marine plywood and encapsulate it in epoxy or it wont last long.
Just made one for my boat, I used regular AC grade exterior plywood and coated it with west marine fiberglass epoxy to waterproof. From everything I researched and its been said on this site, the marine grade uses same glue it just has less voids and you should still waterproof it, so why pay the extra?
I built two new rod box lids, and a deck extension out of plywood with no problems at all. I used some heavy duty polyurethane that they seal the wood flooring in semi trailors with. My brother in law got it for me at work. Done it four years ago to my Ranger for a third of the price that marine grade plywood would have cost me!![]()
