would you guys prefer that i keep the post at the top pinned or un pin them and let them role...i could always go back and pin seems like we are getting a good database of info with all the new projects..... and i would think that doing a search would turn up alot of info.....Just seeing what you guys want....

I kind of like the posts being pinned, as they are easily accessible. But, I suppose after a while it gets kind of cluttered and tough to organize. Is there anyway we can create a database for various types of repairs?

I think you oughta leave 'em there, at least until I'm finished with the project I just bought...

No, really, I like 'em up there. Saves time. If there get to be too many more, I can see maybe consolidating them though. JMO.

Maybe you could rotate the pinned threads, maybe if a rash of buffing/wetsanding posts get started, post those with pics or good info at the top, or like all the new re-carpet threads that are going with pics and good info, maybe leave them up for 1-3 months or so and see if something else comes along with a new restoration project and pin those.

    Just a thought

What about a sub-forum to this one, put all the pinned posts and stickies, etc in there. That way a person can come along and browse through the completed projects.

I started reading this board 4 months ago. I recall back then there was a post that said "if you want to see some serious boat repair projects, go to scream & fly." (It was after some guy posted a cheesy plywood seat thing that looked like fido
's ass) Well, it seems that lately, this site has been the BEST place to come for info on repairs, general boating stuff......You guys that moderate these boards are allright, I dont care what they say about you!

P.S. I think that when a newcomer comes along to gather info. to make a repair, there is a lot of conflicting information regarding polyester/epoxy resins out there. Now, I know that you guys that are in the business of fiberglass repairs can probably effectively carry out structural repairs using the polyester/vinylester stuff, but I think you guys should steer the average joe to use epoxy for structural repairs **below the baterline**. Its so much easier to mix, safer to work with, so much stronger, less room for error. The cure time takes longer, so I can see why you pro's dont use it, but that doesnt matter much to the diy'er.

How about taking the really good projects, how-to's, etc and placing them on the main BBC page? Say, under a Restoration Tips section? I don't know how much work would be involved in doing this, but it would keep the most frequent topics readily available.

Them pinned topics is the very reason me and my boat are in the shape we are today - broke down but slowly recovering!
Seriously, I think anyone that came to the site to start learning some of this stuff would really appreciate the lessons learned from the projects up there, I know I did!
