Lake Fork
Water Temp: 64 - 66
Water Clarity: Clear
My trips for next spring are beginning to take flight, so if you’re interested in a guided fishing trip with me on Lake Fork give me a holler! Driving the lake continues to be treacherous, so if you’re heading to Fork be extremely cautious.
I must admit fishing on the lake has been very steady but not what I would call “very good.” Although, it hasn’t been bad either! Numbers of fish are pretty good and will be picking up here over the next few days and week. Simply because of the cooler water temperatures that are and will be taking place. The fish have been very predictable and the majority of our bites have been coming from secondary points to about three quarters of the way towards the backs of the coves and creeks. Hydrilla and any other vegetation is holding very good numbers of fish. As well as the flats in the afternoons. Over the last few days the bigger fish have been chasing very large shad close enough to cast to but I haven’t had any of them hit what we’ve offered. I guess a swim bait might be a good thing to have tied on waiting for those occasions to happen.
100 series Bandits, chartreuse/white spinnerbaits and light weight Carolina-rigs with a variety of watermelon is what we’ve caught the majority of our fish on. However, with the wind it has been very difficult to stay with the plastics, but I feel reasonably sure that the better bite is on the plastics. Jigs are producing a few bites, but not as good as I think it will be shortly.
The fall bite is my favorite time of the year to fish so come out, give me a call and let me show you why it’s my favorite time to fish!
