I do not have an first hand knowledge of the south chain...but some buddies fished in a T out there a few nights ago and the catch was not all that great....it only took a couple of fish to win it!!!
Fished the Coldwater Chain last week. Coldwater and Marble lake were algae bloomed. Visibility was very poor. The middle lakes were fairly clear, and the bite was much better on those. Good luck on the chain, and let us know how you do.
OBTW- Not too far from you in Maumee Ohio.
