3-5 miles below PA line will still put you above the Conowingo dam. Depends on what side of the river you are on. West side has a boat ramp just north of Peach Bottom Nucl. plant if you have just PA license. On the East side there is small ramp off of Peach Bottom road. If you have a MD license you can come down to a ramp on the west side in Harford county( can't remember name ) or if on the east side there is the old conowingo ramp (public & free ). If you want to go below the dam, there is boat ramp at Lapidum and Havre De Grace on the west side and Port Deposit and Perryville on the east side. You will have to have a Chesepeake Bay license to fish below the dam.

They both have there pros and cons. Above the dam you can throw a 3"-4" grub on a lead head and you never know what you are gonna bring up. Largemouth, smallie, walley, crappie, hybrid striper. Below the dam you can come down to the Susq. Flats and do catch and release on some big stripers, Bass fish'n should be come'n on good soon also.

I vote for below the dam and launching out of Port Deposit. LMB & SMB are available. If you launch at Port it costs $5/day. The Port Side, INC bait and tackles (Richard Fyle 410.378.3134) sells permits Sat (6-7)/ Sun (6-5), other days they are sold at the in town just up the street. There is plenty of parking it's busy this time of year since STB are cooperating.
Just south of the ramp below the I95 bridge on the east side there is a nice grass bed.
