The Indianapolis Distribution Center is where packages go to die. The USPS should contract Amazon to deliver their mail!!

Not uncommon at all...been happening for years, whether here in Tennessee, when I lived in CO, or having packages stuck in sorting in NE or GA, or lost in the NE when it was supposed to go directly West from Tennessee...

I ordered a rampandclamp on March 17 from South Dakota.. It made it to within 100 miles of its destination and then was sent 2000 miles to California. Here is the tracking.

The problem is the auto generated scans. They are false. I don't know what the PO was thinking.

I tracked a pkg back and forth across the state for 2wks. I joked with my wife about sitting along side the road and stopping the truck as it drove by.

Smaller sorting centers were always more efficient and accurate. Postal management is convinced that consolidated centers are the best practice, no matter what the evidence suggests.

Alot of folks can share this same story....here's mine...there is a guy 1 1/2 hrs away from me who makes and sells various fishing lures....only online...no storefront or pick up...so I ordered some stuff...we both live in south Louisiana...it first went to NORTHWEST Louisiana (4 hrs away)...then to Dallas, TX...Houston, Tx...Lake Charles, LA...Lafayette, LA...(30 min from order site)...then to Baton Rouge, LA...then to my house...it took 11 DAYS to arrive and it was only 1 1/2 hours away initially....I say DOGE it!!!

For many years, we had a local postman that was professional, dependable and drove a Government vehicle designed to go in inclement weather. She was always on time regardless of weather and knew everyone in the neighborhood.
Last year she disappeared and in her place we have what is obviously a contractor that drives his private vehicle. He often put’s mail in the wrong box is very unpredictable for delivery time of day and if there is inclement weather he doesn’t show at all.
The postal service is just that A SERVICE it is not designed to be nor intended to be profitable. It should be efficient but not at the expense of providing the service level required by the Taxpayers who fund it.

Hey but just think, package delivered or not they still come by your house daily. What a Huge Waste!

Doge it 100% they have to be the worst agency, the opposite of green and efficient, I'm no tree hugger but the waste is incredible. I know a lot of what they do gets done correctly but the waste is unacceptable.

Auto generated junk mail and unsolicited advertisement's should be charged 3-4 times as much for sending out their junk. Not sure how to do that but, using the USPS as you advertising delivery method should cost a lot more.
Indianapolis opened or is trying to open a new distribution center. It has not gone well. Multiple local articles on why mail languishes at that facility. Way worse than it's ever been??

I've been spoiled. I have lived in the same house for almost 40 years and have only had 3 regular mailmen(yes Men) Other than a few subs and during the couple months after one retired, I've had great service. What happens to mail before my guy gets it is anyone's guess, but the neighborhood delivery part is spot on. The guy I have now will even recognize fishing related packages( he fishes), and deliver to my house, first thing in the morning, before starting his route.
P.S. In season there is fresh produce waiting for him a couple times a week as a Thank-you.

Same deal, our mailman is great. It's not about the carriers. Ours gets peanut brittle and toffy every year...lol.
