    Prop shaft movement

Should there be any sideways movement , or up and down movement of the prop shaft ????? Mine has both, not much, but it just feels a little too much. Its with the prop off. ( Torque Master ) 06-250 xs --1.62--with 160 hr..........Thanks Jerry

    Re: Prop shaft movement (jms)

There will be "some" lateral movement- but VERY little. On a used gearcase, I'd expect approximately .003-.009 (approximately).

If you have ANY question as to whether the movement is excessive, my recommendation would be to have it checked promptly. Early detection of gearcase wear or problems can easily save you money.
