    Wheeler Lake

Fished Wheeler and my time away from this lake is showing. Caught a really nice drum , a small hybrid and a very small smallmouth. Ugggh. High skies and a north wind made it difficult but I need more lake time. Used to be October was easy on Wheeler, but nothing comes easy for this old man. Better luck next time

    Re: Wheeler Lake (Wind Talker)

Fished a small T. out of Ingall's Sat. afternoon. Me and my partner won with 12.6lb with big fish of 5lb. Must have caught 50-60 fish. Had to leave one spot with them biting because we had to look for that big one. If you just want to catch fish you should have no problem doing that. Fast moving baits from Browns ferry down to first creek. Look for schoolers!!!

Yes, I was fishing down river, between and in First and Second creek. Found a few schoolies but they were small. Wanted to head toward Decatur but it got windy and my 196 doesn't like the waves.( Well, my back doesn't) Fishing between Decatur and Brown's Ferry this weekend

Bobby and Jody, thx for the report! can you share if you are see any large schools of shad in the shallows in the back of coves are creeks? I know I saw shad so thick on Wilson it was amazing. And it wasnt the normal black balls the size of a truck hood. It was 1/4 acre size groups of shad 1to 2". Thx again

Found shad everywhere! I mean out in the river, in the creeks, in the coves..... everywhere.
I will update what I find upriver after next trip. My last few trips have been between Elk River and Second creek. Looking to fish Decatur area next.

    Re: Wheeler Lake (Big Sexy)

Hey Kerry, Big Sexy is right on, lots of shad everywhere. All the creeks in the elk and most of the sloughs and small creeks off the big river are loaded right now with shad. The KEY is to find out what the bass will hit in all those shad. It seems to change every year for me. Here's a hint: KVD likes them very much!!!

I don't fish Decatur much so I can't say what going on up there. I was going to fish the flats some last Sat. during the T, but the wind was howling a little too much for me.
