I've got a 7' MHX (CB843 blend) and was considering using some Forecast BFUG fly guides for the build. Going to be a rattlebait rod. Anyone ever used them?

not many compelling reasons to use anything other than single foot fly guides. bfug would be fine
I have multiple rods built with these guides. I obviously wouldn't hesitate to use them. I have them on my Rainshadow CB80MH crankbait rod, my spinnerbait rod, and on a Carolina Rig rod.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."
question #2:
Since these guides look to be a little shorter than others, would I be better off to order a couple extras. I would think it would require more guides to keep the line off the blank when doing a static test?
never hurts to have an extra or 2 around, like if you drop one and your wife vacuums it up- chances are when you static test you will find you can use fewer guides (more spacing) toward the butt section of the rod and use less spacing near the tip to keep the line off the blank, personally, i just get the line path to follow the blank as best possible under a full load - there will always be some line slap where the line will hit the blank, if marginal its not really an issue. Its normal with micro builds to use a lot smaller guides than a BFUG6 and build on top and these rods perform very well.
or you can just do a spiral wrap...
as for single foot fly guides, those are all i use. i dont see any reason to use double foots on ANY normal bass rods! weight is an enemy to a fine custom biult rod!
