    Controlling overspray on your lures?

    Hi guys... New member here...
I've been making my own lures for a while but have never achieved the great paint jobs I've seen on this site. I have problems with overspray. It ruins white bellies and the base color between stripes. Too bad too because I have a couple neat crankbait designs. If I could put a good finish on them I'd have something! Thanks for any tips.

what kinda paint are you using to paint with
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!

Couple of things that control overspray, paint viscosity(how thin is it), air pressure, but the thing I see most new painters over look is distance....how close do you hold your brush to the bait, the more you back away from the bait the greater chances you have of overspray the best way to solve this problem is a white sheet of paper sit down and force yourself to not paint any baits and just paint for a day or 2. Change things while you practice noting the differences too many times people (not saying your doing this ) try painting and think the answer is a simple one that can be typed out, sometimes yes it can but when it deals with learning the brush 99% of the time the answer will be PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE.

Alot of it for me is the angle you are painting at. I.E say I am painting the shoulders of a bait, I will lean it away from me so it doesnt shoot down on the sides. Also, everything the last guy said...

as already stated practice will help, paint that is a lower viscosity can be sprayed at lower pressure closer to the bait. And uphill spraying versus down hill.

99cent craft paint will be much harder to paint with than air brush paint. blah, blah, blah about thining the paint. Practice and use air brush paint.
