    drop shot / power shot

I was watching a fishing show early this morning on espn2 and the guy was talking about power shotting. Basically he had a tungsten weight at the bottom, and a texas rigged worm about 8 inches up, and he was using 20lb line. He stated he was using it for bass and the 20lb line was to rip through debris and weeds. I'm confused though as to what the different is to power shotting and drop shotting. I looked up drop shotting and it showed the same riggin as the power shotting on tv. Are these terms just used differently by different people?

    Same concept and technique.
"Power shotting" is the term usually associated with drop shotting with heavier line, rods, and weights.
    Also known as "bubba shotting."

if you're essentially fishing for the same fish, what advantages does the heavier line and weights for? is it to rip through more crap in the water (ie weeds, rocks, sticks)?

Drop-shotting is the original technique and is generally associated with light line and tackle. Power-shotting is just a heavier version of the dropshot. With power-shotting heavy rods, lines, and tackle are used to fish heavier cover.

is 20lb enough to get the weight and tackle through lilly pads without snapping the line? have any of you had good luck with finding bass in the pads?
