I use a Buddy, gold !/2 oz. alot here on lake Norfork. I've used it for a number of years and like to fish it on steep bluffs or anywhere I find suspended fish in deep water.
We use silver buddies alot up here in MA and NH on lakes like Winnipesaukee. I usually use a 3/4 oz silver colored bait with 12-14lb berkley MAXX. Can't beat this technique for deep smallies when the water temp drops.
been catching most of my fish right now on silver buddies. working them off of points. casting out..letting it sink down and pull up my rod tip, just to wheni feel it vibrate then i let it sink back down and then i do it again..this is a fairly quick technique but i have caught plenty of fish so far this winter with this technique.....
when u can watch your slack line on the flutter down..sometimes you will see a small tick, if not you will feel it when you pull up. dont set the hook hard, silver buddies are known to slip out..
Ok, I thought I'd seen everything but you got me stumped.... What exactly is a silver buddy?

Others can certainly correct me, but me thinks this is the silver buddy in question.![]()

that is a silver buddy. google it under silver buddy. they come in all colors, just another version of a spoon if u ask me.
Gotcha......Thanks guys, I just hadn't seen or heard of them before
the silver buddy has put more than 50 lm,sm and spots in the boat over my last two trips. (yesterday, and friday)
we were in 42.5 to 46 degree water, couldn't get bit on jig or jerkbait at all. but the silver buddy got em going. once we figured that out, we never put them down.
try out the bass pro version of this lure, i think it is an xps lazer blade. i prefer them to a silver buddy, they have more flash and i find they dont hang up as bad (maybe just me). they are a quality product, but they do cost a little more.
If you look in the lures for sale section there is a guy selling them there.
Northern Bass also sells a good one with red eyes and hooks....![]()
