I am with ya on this one Luke....I need to learn how to do this, especially learn how to use my electronics up front better.
Luke, I fish Lake Norfork and use spoons alot mostly for Walleye, stripes/hybrids and whites. A good locator is a must. Mine has 4000 watts peak to peak and I can watch my spoon at any depth. June, july and august are very good months for spooning on Norfork. Different times of year fish will use different depths so there is a learning curve. If I'm fishing for bass I like a flatter spoon, has more flutter. If I'm fishing walleye, stripers/hybrids I like a more slender spoon that drops fast such as a Mann-o-lure. Different depths require differant wieghts. Iuse 1/2 oz in 35-50 ft and 3/4 to 1oz down to 60 and 80 ft. I also use markers when I locate fish espicially if windy. Remember you don't have to always fish on the bottom. Fish will be suspended most of the time and that is where a good locator helps. Spooning can be real boring until you catch on to it, but when you get on fish it is deadly. Good luck

This guy knows his stuff. I have tried it this year and it has lead to several 50 fish afternoons. He also has several great post on BFHP with lots of pictures

what kind of spoons do you all use?.......was thinkin about getting some of the Strata Spoons from BPS
I really like Hopkins spoons. You can get them in a multitude of sizes.
Strata spoons work great, get the white ones! The BPS Strata spoons have a little wider wobble than a Hopkins which are also good. I REALLY prefer a white spoon most of the time.
