    how to adjust butterflies

    93 J150GLETR

The butterflies are in synch but look to be just a few degrees away from opening completely at WOT. Motor is equipped with hotfoot. How do I make this slight adjustment? I've got the OMC manual, but either I've missed it or it doesn't say.

Also, I keep reading about a 'roller cover' that sometimes breaks off. Where is this located so I can check it? I've looked closely at parts diagrams and from what I can tell this particular motor may not have one anyway...

Motor is running strong, but I'm just trying to make sure it is dialed in completely and get it to full speed. Once this is done, I've got a little work to do on my setup and then it's all set!!! Credit due to the guys on this board who have helped me track down a couple of issues to get this far. You've saved me big $$$$ and a lot of time!!!

    Thanks!!!

The roller is on top of your starboard throttle body. There is a solid black hard plastic roller on top of the linkage. There should be a clear roller over it. To adjust the cable properly, disconnect the cable from throttle linkage, loosen or remove the bolt that holds down the clamp. Move the bottom part of the linkage until the throttle arm contacts the throttle roller on top of the linkage. Hold the bottom part of the linkage in that position and adjust the black trunion adjuster so the cable loop slips on the linkage post with out moving the linkage. Tighten the cable clamp and install the hair pin on the linkage. Remove the air box cover and depress the hot foot to WOT verify the plates are opening fully. If not adjust the pedal stop on the hot foot to attain WOT.
On a side note Loosen your timing roller and move it back from the timing cam before you make this adjustment. When you complete the throttle cable adjustment, you can then move the timing roller per the adjustment that is pinned to the top of the forum.
