Yeah Ron and I had a lot of good times together. Becky & I met he and Linda in 94 when we got into couples fishing. Bec & I still lived in the TX panhandle (Plainview) at the time. We moved to Abilene in 97 and continued to fish couples tournaments through 98 with them. Ron joined the same Bass Club as Craig, Barney & I in 98 or 99. That's when Ron and I began fishing together in our club tournaments together when there was not a conflict with his and Linda's couples schedules. Becky had "retired" from bass fishing after the 98 season ....
Needless to say, we developed a very close friendship over the years. We continuously picked at each other with the Ranger vs ChampioN controversy. Drank way more beer together than the average mortal should be able o.Ron was a man of impeccable character and I was able to draw on that and try to instill those qualities on my children. In the last year since his knee replacement and subsequent issues with cancer, I have missed those days on the lake we normally had together. Going forward, I will miss him very much and think about him every morning I'm on the water as the new day appears. I remember telling him at sunrise at the (1st) BBC rally at Fork, "If you don't believe in God, you've never been on the water as the world wakes up."
Another toast![]()
