Sorry but I don't have the model and serial #'s at the moment. The motor is a 98' 225 Johnson Venom(carb motor). I have noticed that after a wot run when I come back down to idle(out of gear) that it idles high, around 1300rpm or so untill I trim the motor down. Is this normal or is something going on with it that should be looked at. Normally the idle is about 900rpm and about 700rpm in gear.

Yes I do have a hotfoot. It is not sticking or anything but now that you mention it I did notice when I was checking it for wot that the butterflies open a little past wide open. I was checking wot because this motor has never been as strong as I think it should. It's on the back of a 98' TR-21 and will not spin a 24p raker past 5600rpm and

Tr21PD is a heavy boat. 67 is pretty good if that is T loaded, What is your prop to pad ratio? You may be a little too deep. Check your head temps you may have a sticky or defective T- stat.
2 3/4" under pad with an 8" jackplate. Normal load. I will try to check temps next time I get it out. Most guys seem to be running in the low 70's with this setup.

That vintage setup, you'll probably see a bunch of Hammer Ox 66's or ProV's, or EFI's. Your motor will have more uuumph and will carry the load much better. Try a Tempest + on it.
I ran a 25 Tempest Plus for about a year and it was 1-2mph slower. I am going to try to get out this weekend and check the temp on the motor.
