    Check Engine

    Hi Guys,

I have a 96 Evinrude E150ELEDB sn-G04169770. I have been having an intermittent issue with the check engine light\buzzer. When I first start the boat at the lake I will get the buzzer, boat may stall on take off and then restart after a few attempts. It seems after it warms up maybe that it will be ok and the boat will no longer stall but while I am driving from place to place it will sound and then shut back off where the engine never stalls. I have cleaned out the filter, I am using a water seperator between the gas tank and bulb. I am using the VRO setup. The engine has about 177 hours on it. Also was wondering if this is an Intruder or is that a enhanced version of what I have? It does not have any Intruder signage on the cover. I appreciate your help and have learned a ton from you guys reading through previous posts.

    Re: Check Engine (slrh)

Sirh, first thing I would do is check the battery connections make sure there is no corrosion and all connection are tight. had the same thing happen to me and that was the problem. Also check the back of the main switch for anything loose.and put a small amount of triple-guard grease on the battery connections.Good luck

Thanks Sunbird, I will take a look. Did your boat turn over o.k. still? Everything seems to work fine off the battery on mine (starter, bildge, stereo etc.) We actually have a camp outside of Newport.

The CHECK ENGINE light on your regular 150 - not the hi-perf version - is warning you about a fuel restriction somewhere in the system. Most likely a selector switch, anti-siphon valve, or the fuel tank pickup assembly as long as there are no kinks or problems with the hoses.
