    crossflow or looper

This might seem like a silly question but I've just got to ask it for my own sake. Whats the difference between a crossflow motor and a looper? Is one better then the other? I have an 89 johnson gt 150 that I love except for the fact that I can't drive by a gas station without having to fill up. Is it a crossflow or a looper? Thanks for any info.

    Re: crossflow or looper (madawaskabass)

    Your 89 GT150 is a cross flow.

The term "Crossflow" describes how the fuel enters and leaves the combustion chamber, it is pulled in from one side of the piston and Crossflows over the top of the piston.

The "Looper" describes the same thing but, the fuel is drawn from ports in the sleeve and the fuel charge is Looped into the combustion chamber.

The Looper is a better way to mix fuel and air for a naturally aspirated motor.

I hope this answers your question.

And I hope I spelled some of these words correctly....
