    Stalling issue solved....THANKS!!! FastStrike 175

Would just like to give a big THANK YOU to all the mods and everyone else who offered help to everyone on the boards with stalling/driveability issues. I never actually posted my problem(s) but used the search function to answer the questions that others before me have encountered. Ended up taking off carbs and butterfly manifolds (for lack of a better name) taking apart and cleaning, doing the timing arm adjustment and taking the carb mixture screws to 6 out (they ranged from 5 to 7 out) and replacing the throttle bushing that rotted (replaced with a section of tubing actually). I also follwed the starting procedure stated and hit the enrichment (choke) 1/2 second on 1/2 second off 3x. This solved my cold start stalling, put in gear stalling, and top end lagging.

My only issue now (which was induced by the fixes) is not going in to neutral from forward or reverese unless i continue past neutral to the opposite gear. I suspect this is the cable adjustment at the motor...direction to turn or turns to start from would be helpful if known. ChampionMan, Elgin, Seahorse and everyone else-THANKS!!!!

97 Johnson FastStrike 175 (sorry...I keep forgetting to get the actual model #) on a 98 Stratos 283 FS Fish/Ski

Awesome, glad to hear it worked out. I've got to do some adjustments on my '94 FastStrike tomorrow as I've been having the same problems.

shift switch needs to be checked as this cuts out a bank of cyl for easier shifting out of gear.
