Thank you to the guys that tried to help me last week with some tips for Murray. Our club visits once a year in March from Savannah. We fished out of Riverwinds Landing up the Saluda. We found water temps in the mid 50s with heavy stain from there towards Dreher Island. We had 22 guys fishing and the reports from Friday were good fishing was to be had. Haavy rains moved in Friday night and muddied things up even more. On Saturday me and my partner managed one bite all day with me catching a 3.7lb fish out of a ditch on a c-rig. The majority of our other guys caught a few fish with mediocre success for us. However two of our guys put together a 10 fish stringer weighing 28 1/2lbs with a 6.5 big fish. They would not share info or I would post it. On Sunday it was a little better as docks I have fished in the past produce a little better for me giving me 7 bites on the day. 5 in the boat (4 keepers and 1 short) on a texas rigged black u-tail worm. My partner managed 2 keepers once he switched over to a black worm as well. My preffered fishing is a crankbait. With the exception of a 6ln striper on Sat morning, they did not produce at all for me and my partner. We fished cranks (shad raps, killer b's, and bombers), spinnerbaits, pointers, and soft plastics from up the river, Spring Creek, Hollands area, to around Dreher Island with no luck. Our only bites came in an area near Spring Creek around docks.
Our second place team did say they caught all of their fish off of concrete boat ramps.
Murray, like many other bodies of water in the frozen south should be ready to bust into some awesome fishing action!! Be prepared as it should turn on soon
