Re: 2010 Okemah Team Trail Schedule (DDHolcomb)

I would like to know some more about the lake. Structure, avg. water clarity, depth, shoreline structure, etc. I found an satellite photo that was pretty neat. Several boat docks and some pretty good looking points and bays. Haven't found any old reports though....

Mark, Okemah lake is fairly shallow lake for the most part full of shoreline weeds has some lily pads also. The new lake stays clear mostly and the old lake is stained most of the time. You can fish boat house's, weeds, wood, or rocks what ever you like it has it. Also full of quality fish probably the best small lake in the state. As far as structure goes there are some humps, creek channels and some good points to fish. Spend some time on the lake you won't be disappointed.

Re: 2010 Okemah Team Trail Schedule (MarkEnsign)

The main forage is shad there are also crawfish, bluegill, & some small crappie that the bass feed on. I haven't noticed alot of frogs at this lake but frog imitating lures and buzzbaits work really well at times. It's fishes alot like Cushing City lake only the water is alot clearer, lake is bigger, the boat ramps are wider, greater number of quality fish, and no gravel roads to pull your boat down. Don't get me wrong though I like Cushing lake alot to its a sleeper of a lake for big bass and doesn't get alot of pressure.
