    Spark plug options

I have a 2007 225 hp etec that uses a QC10WEP Iridium plug does anyone know of a less expensive option that will not cause any motor damage

There is none. That plug is made for lasting 300 hours in an E-TEC, sometimes more.

Hunt around for a price. I am one of the few that will bitch about the price of Merc suggested parts. My plugs are $125 from the dealer and Merc "suggests" owners use these plugs cuzz they're protected with a parts and labor warranty. Huh!? WTF does that mean for a spark plug. Oh, and they're supposed to be changed annually. Try RockAuto. I found my plugs for $8 apiece.

I got those from Napa, i think for like $9 so that are not that bad at all. Some of the motorcycle plugs i deal with are $30. Ktm 2-strokes use a $35 and they go through a few.

I might have a spare set of those around. Since my old motor is junk and i don't think my new G2 takes those for plugs, i will have to double check. Let me know if you are interested in them.

Thanks, I just got a set from a dealer (for an outrageous price) and have since priced them at Carquest for only 7.29 ea. What are you asking for yours?

As soon as i get my new motor and confirm the plugs are not the same. Which from the parts fiche only up to 2012 motors, i have seen says they are not. I send them to you because otherwise they will just go in the trash.

If you are getting the G2 the plugs are indeed different.

Yes it is a 2019 G2 250 H.O. Is there anywhere that has fiche for the newer motors?

Commannche20: Send me a pm with your address and i will get them heading your. If i can find my original plugs i pull the other set out of the motor and send them to. They only have 5 hours on them before i lost the injector and took out the cylinder.

The original plugs were QC8WEPI that has updated to QC8WEPIA, with either plug there in no indexing needed.

Really no indexing, why can't the boat and the snowmobile get on the same page. Then again we have had exhaust valves for years and my understanding is now you get to deal with them.

You misunderstand what ChampioNman means, the plugs and cylinder head on the G2 are timed so the plugs are indexed correctly each time every time, no need to do it as per the G1 engines. The R.A.V.E in the G2 150HP I-3 is similar but different to Ski doo. No engine model years on E since 2012 and the epc.brp.com has your engine listed, juts look for the same model number.

I would be curious to see how similar the new r.a.v.e valve is compared to the old snowmobile engines.

I don't have the motor yet, so i don't have the model number info yet. Once i get it i will go poke around and see what i can find.

The fact that they change the exhaust port timing and their general curved blade shape are the only similarities between the outboard and the snowmobile RAVE systems. The snowmobile RAVE is actuated through a diaphragm by the crankcase pulses and the outboard system is operated by an electric actuator similar to the one used for shifting in and out of gear on the G2 models.

Now that the thread is drifted off subject and in another direction - any further discussion should be a new topic thread.
