I’ve never thought that it would happen

My wife told me yesterday that I should start looking at trading on a new truck and I just don’t have the urge to do it. I currently have a 2015 F150 XLT supercrew sport edition with the 5.0 in 2 wd with less than 24000 miles. She doesn’t want me to switch to another brand either. Other than getting into a 4x4 nothing really excites me about trading. https://www.fairwayford.com/new-Gree...EW1E5XKFA28094 the truck in this link has some appeal to me but it isn’t at my local dealer. Maybe I should take a road trip and see it in person and see if I get excited enough to want trade.

At 24k miles that truck isn't broke in. I cant imagine there is much difference between a 15 and a 19.

I believe that is why I can’t get excited about trading, but that wasn’t an issue in the past. I have grown fond of the “no chrome” looks as well and that excludes a lot of trucks.

I'm cheap so I run them till the wheels fall off then I put them back on and run some more LOL. But yeah if there isn't some big feature or something you need I wouldn't make a move. Just be taking another big depreciation hit for really no gain.

Even if there is some new feature you don't have like cameras or nav or whatever you can typically add that for not too much $$

why would you trade a truck with only that mileage and only 4 years old? Now if it were giving you mechanical trouble or had high mileage I could understand.

You don't want a new truck and obviously don't need one so don't buy one lol.

Upgrade the bass boat instead (assuming you have one).

The one thing that I have to be careful of is that she is telling me to either get one in the very near future or plan on keeping my current truck for several more years. If I get the urge 6 months or a year from now then I’ll get an earful and it’ll be more than one earful at that.

Or shes a mental ninja and what she really wants is to tell you to get a new truck because there is something really expensive she wants and that's her pass.

Watch your back they are tricky lol.

So what ever happened to just keeping it and being happy with what you have?

I have a 12 year old truck I bought new; been paid off for years. Since I’m not making payments on it, I see it as it’s just making me money everyday!

It’s a truck, it still does truck stuff, no clue why I would lighten my wallet for something new for no reason.......unless I’m missing something here.

I also have a 12 year old truck (07 F 150 CC XLT 151k miles) that I really love driving it everyday but it's to the age to were do I keep putting money into repairs (tranny only major one others minor) or sell it why there is still value in the truck? I keep the truck in very good condition and have all records on every single thing that was done to it. Probably can sell it for about $9-10k according to KBB and NADA values.
The wife thinks it's time for a newer truck which is surprising but a part of me wants to drive it into the dirt to see how long it will go before it can't go no more.

There has to be more to this story. For no reason whatsoever, your wife wants you to buy a new truck? Does it have to do with income tax write offs possibly.

and I’ll add, the truck in your link is way cheaper than what they charge down here!

My truck is our main family vehicle as well since she has a Mustang and it’s not good for road trips. That’s what she’s telling me anyhow.

So maybe she’s bored with your current truck, it happens.

No way would I replace a 4 year old truck with only 24,000 miles. Honestly, that doesn’t make sense. My 4 year old truck has 104,000 miles on it just from everyday driving.
