I recently took my boat in b/c it was running rough. I have a 225 evinrude vindicator 1997 model. Anyways the dealer told me that my timing was off by 10 degrees and didn't know how the boat even ran. I don't know a whole lot about motors but what all does the timing affect, since he fixed it, the motor turns about 700 more rpms and starts easier. My boat has always run 5500 rpms so I don't understand how it ran for that long if the timing was off? Does that make sense to any of yall?
