2017 Tracker 190,115 pro xs 4s,spitfire x7 19 pitch prop,motor raised to third hole.Ran it bymyself today,half tank of fuel and me at 285lbs.The best i could get to was 48mph at 6100rpm according to stock tach.Dont know how guys are getting 51-52 mph with the same set up,gps speed was off of humminbird.

To my knowledge the guys getting those speeds are running 2 stroke Optimax's and running 21P Laser II props. As for the tach reading 6100 rpms it may be off somewhat. The tach on my boat was different than what my smartguage was telling me by a little more than 300 rpm. My tach said I was doing more than 5800 rpms with my Laser II and I was actually getting slightly more than 5500 rpm's. They have changed the HP rating for the 190 as well. Now I believe they only show max HP to be 115. That same boat a few years ago was rated for up to 135 HP. So 48 mph with a 285lb man is still pretty danged good even without gear in your boat. Finally, I know it's still hot as blue blazes in Texas at this time of the year. The humidity and heat plays a factor as well. In the winter months when the weather is colder you will be able to hit your optimum speeds as the air is denser making your engine run better. in winter you will pick up a MPH or two. So all in all I don't think your doing half bad.

I have the same set up as you. I run with a pretty heavy load in my boat(Ulterra, 3 batteries, all the fishing gear I own). I weigh in at 210lbs. I can consistently hit 50mph at 6200rpm (gps/vessel view). I was out on Wednesday by myself with a full tank of gas and full livewell and could only get to 49.5mph@6140rpms.

My speedometer and tachometer are off 5mph and 200rpms respectively at WOT reading 55mph @ 6400rpm. My engine only has 40 hours on it at this point and I have been running in pretty hot weather here in North Texas. I suspect that cooler fall weather (below 65degs) should allow my engine to touch the RevLimiter on the ProXS and probably top 51mph.

How many hours on your engine?

Hey Joe,been a while...As far as hrs on engine goes my closest guess would be around 25.

I think with a few more hours on your motor and cooler temps you will gradually climb on up in mph & rpm. The only new 190s I have read about that are reaching 52mph are with the Laser II prop. I am going to attempt to hit the 52mph mark later this Fall when morning temps are below 65degs. My plan involves having less than 1/2 tank of gas, zero water in the livewell, temp at or below 65, light wind with moderate chop on the water. Under those conditions running with the wind I think my 190 might just do it. Obviously that has nothing to do with how we actually use our boats. Normally I am cruising at about 5000rpms around 40mph.

I installed the spitfire before i raised the motor.My Laser 2 is a 22 pitch though,i believe the Laser users are running 20 pitch props,maybe ile give the 22 a try now that the motor is raised.Only takes a minute to change out.

If you want top speed a worked laser will get you more top end. Some say the 4 blades handle better. After cupping my Laser i would bet it handles just as good. A laser prop does need a little work tho.
