I bought a used 19 foot 1993 basscat Pentera II with a 2000 200hp Johnson on it. With full gas tanks and live wells and myself and my son- in- law in the boat (both of us heavy weights) I can't get the boat up on plane unless he moves up to the front of the boat then once we are on plane he can return to the seat. I have tried different heights on my jack plate but to no avail Someone told me I should put a hydrofoil on the cavitation plate to get up on plane. I am not sure if this would be safe on turns at high speeds. anyways, my question for you or anyone else that wants to help is first of all should the 200 hp put that boat on plane. and if so what would you suspect might be the problem other than my habit of eating too much? By the way alot of my gages dont work so i couldn't tell what speed I can go with my boat but it does move along quite well once up on plane.

Thanks for any help you can give me,
Jerry
