08 Tracker Pro Team 175TXW fuel tank problem

My pick up tube in my fuel tank is sucking air and won't let my motor stay primed. Has anyone replaced one of them by pulling the old one, or would it be easier to literally plug it and put another assembly in the tank?

Next time I have the boat uncovered I will look closer at the fitting. Is the hose clamp tight on the fitting and the hose in good condition? Im honestly not sure if the pickup tube will come out of the tank in place or not.

Did you inspect hose for obstructions. May be ethanol related degrading hoses.

Yes, I have replaced all the hiose, and can hear it sucking air in the tank and won't pump up. I have also replaced the primer bulb as well.

How many times did you pump the bulb after replacing the hose? After I replaced mine it was freaking me out a bit because it took a VERY long time and alot of pumping to fill the lines all the way to the engine. Could just be that the lines on the system are all empty. Be awesome if it were that simple.

Is this what yours looks like?

    fuel pickup.JPG

It looks like they must have installed this through the fill up hole. If you take out the 90 fitting and remove the nut, it looks like it would fall into the tank. The only way to get to the fill up inlet is to remove the tank. I think a new pickup would be easier.

Thanks for the pic yep thats the one. After seeing it I agree if in fact it does look like the pickup came loose inside and is not fubctioning capping this one off and installing a new one would be easier I would think. Havnt really seen an issue with that on here yet tho. Hopefully its just the dry new lines like in my above post.

You have to prime the fuel line before you connect it. Did you do it that way?

If not in hook at motor. Get a bucket and some rags and pump the bulb till you get fuel out of hose. Then hook it up.

I've never had to replace a tank pick up so I'm lost also.

+1, prime thru the bulb first connect the remaining line to the engine and finish priming.

I have. It was on a plastic type tank and the fitting broke just under the top of the tank so the tube running down into the gas was useless. On it, the fitting screwed in and I was able to just screw it out. Now finding a replacement one was a challenge and If I remember right I ended up getting a new tank instead.

But if it does screw out, try that first. If not who knows.

Thanks for all the reply's on this first and foremost... I replaced the lines a while back, and had a buddy rebuild the fuel pump at the same time. It helped/worked for about 3 months, but I think it was because I was keeping the fuel topped off. This spring I had gotten worried about the age of the gas so started running it lower, I have gotten down to about 1/2 tank and its a fight to keep it idleing, and in the process of getting the gas lower it is harder to keep it primed. I also thought it was pissiblyt the vented cap, but you can take the cap off even and it acts the same way. I am going to fill it back up with fuel and go try it again to make sure the fuel level actually affects the way it runs before I go any further. Oh I also changed the plugs, and they appeared to be gas fouled from when I finally got gas to it I managed to flood it all in the same 1\2 hour of trying to get it started on my home lake the other night...good time LOL. What we won't do to try to catch a few fish!

Might want to get to dealer and hook computer to it. Gas fouled plugs is not a sign of to little gas? You may have an injector issue.
