I hear ya but I made the switch to CFL's in the garage and you're right, there is a warm up time with them. My garage is heated so even in the dead of winter, it takes 30-45 seconds for them to be at full brightness.
But, I used to have (8) 200W incandescent bulbs = 1600W total that were bright. I replaced them with (8) 150W CFL's that draw 42W each = 336W total. I'm not going to tell you the CFL's are as bright, but they're probably 95% of what the incandescents were and use 79% less energy. For guys like me that forget and leave the lights on all night, its a decent savings![]()
