Stood on Pier 5 at the Navy Base from 10:30 this morning till about 1:00 this afternoon waiting for the boy child. When the sailors finally started coming off the ship and down the pier I realized that this counrty is being served by and protected by a bunch of 14 year old kids. That's about the same time I realized why their were so many 13 year old girls standing beside me waiting on all their boyfriends. (By the way, since when are 13 year old girls allowed to wear short shorts and short skirts, and revealing tops? )

One of the most humbling things I witnessed was when they let the sailors who'd wives gave birth while they were gone come off the ship first to meet their new babies. I was on deployment when my son was born and didn't meet him till he was 3 1/2 months old, so this brought back a lot of memories.

So after standing there and listening to all the wives, husbands, and family members I realized that this counrty's safety is in fine hands. The sailors and their spouses are just as proud as any of us were 30 years ago when I joined up.

(And maybe they all just look to be young teens!)
