    DTS controls / engine start

Don't have serial numbers because the boat is not built yet but I did order the motor with DTS. It's my understanding you can start the motor via the throttle or with a key style system from the boat mfg. Is there any pros or cons always starting the motor via thru the DTS? Thanks, Steve.

My 2004 Verado to start it using the start/stop button, the key has to be on. As a result it is powering the steering and the battery will be dead quick.

So I use the key so I don't forget to turn the key off.

Well that makes complete sense, guess I'll opt for the key option. Thx

The Smart-Start system functions the same way (at the engine) regardless of which option you choose. The control/software may vary in what or how that signal is sent (key switch, key fob, start-stop switch, etc).
