How Good Are Bass Cat Trailers

I've heard a lot of good things about Bass Cat trailers. I know the boats are very good but how are the trailers compared to other brands?

It is said they are the best. Built in house each boat has it's own trailer to fit. There's a notched area (for lack of better term) in the side of boat so it fits into the trailer.
I had a puma ftd for 13 years never did a thing to the trailer other than repair a fender from a tire blow out. Got a new puma sts for+2 years no issues other than the pens for the swing away part is tight! Too tight to get out without some gentle persuasion from a hammer

That's a very easy fix, loosen the bow strap before trying to remove the pins. Unhook trailer, loosen winch strap a bit at a time until the pins are loose and remove them. Each pin may require different "tension". After removed, fold the tongue away. To reinstall pins, reverse the above process.

I understand but mine won't do it like that. One pen if the top hole is loose the bottom hole is tight. So I have to tap them up. I even have to use a smaller pen to tap them up through the holes

I’ve only had mine for a few months, but so far it’s been excellent. Looks great, tows very well. The finish is very nice, but I feel like it will require a bit more care than a road armor type finish. The new 2025 Fenders look great in my opinion. Loads and unloads very easy once you figure out how deep you need to be for both. I added trick steps as it’s a bit of a balancing act to get around dual graphs when boarding to launch the boat. With trick steps it’s a non event.

Some will say they’re great. I did not have a good experience with my Bass Cat trailer, including a cross member that cracked. At least one of my friends has also had issues beyond basic maintenance items that should not have happened. I know things break with abuse or lack of maintenance, but that was not the case for either of us. I’ve owned trailers from a few manufacturers and my Bass Cat trailer was most problematic. On another note, I do not think the factory steps are very functional and would prefer a road armor finish like most other manufacturers use.

I know they look a lot better than some of the other stuff at the ramp. I had to repair my winch post on a ten y/o trailer caused from power loading, prolly.

I’ve had 0 issues with my 2007 trailer. Replaced the original bunks when they were 15 years old. They were still in good shape. I replaced them with bunks from the factory. They’re double carpeted on top which makes them about 3” thick overall. Everything about a BCB trailer is well designed and executed.

My only complaint, and I have had this with two different boats, is the front roller doesn't roll and it looks to be removing material from the bow.

by far the best trailer I have ever had. 2 were mass produced (triton 17 and PHX 21 marine master), one was a ranger from when Ranger was still ranger, not sure if they built them in house then. Regardless, the puma trailer is absolutely awesome. Only "learning curve" was the fact that you dont have to back the trailer in as far. Just to where the back wheels are even with the water.

I've owned many Bass Cat trailers, and all have been superior to other brands in my opinion. Particularly when the trailer has been outsourced to another company. There has always been an effort to provide the very best materials on the part of Bass Cat and that includes paint or coatings that aid against rock chips from the highway. Fit has always been perfect, and finish has always been great! I personally dont care for the flat finish of a road armor or spray in bedliner finish. They seem to fade away from black to gray over time which is fine for some.

I have had 2 puma’s a 2005 and my current 2014. With my first puma I had no issues other than the lag bolts started to rust after a while .My current trailer is a different story. I had cross member break at a weld, had to replace a torsion bar due to the bolts stretching.although I give credit to BBC for recommending replacing the bolts with grade 8 bolts.i paid to have two coats of gaterhyde on the trailer and still all of the brackets that support the bunks are rusting as are the axles .its has become a yearly task to crawl under the trailer to remove rust and prime and paint those parts. The wiring on the trailer lights looks like it was done by a drunk monkey on crack I have had to rewire both taillights .On a side note my one buddy has to replace three torsion bars on his 2018 Ranger due to the bolts stretching.so again I have to give credit to BBC for advising all owners of that problem
