    Opinions On Duckett Rods

I know that some people don't think much of Boyd Duckett, but I'd like to get some opinions on his rods. Our first Academy store opened here this week and they have a nice selection of these rods at great sale prices. The only complaint I have seen is people bitching about broken guides - is that a big problem with their rods?

I’ve heard lots of stories of broken ones. I had a couple micro magics but ended up selling them. Rods feel good but in that price range I think there are better options.

Just say no. I'm sure they pay the pros a lot to fish them but there are so many other good rods out there. As far as I'm concerned they are carrot stix that are painted white.

Haha...yeah, purty much, if even that.

Still, there are those who like them, and so be it.

Gave them a try, didn't care for them and gave them away.

I don't like how long their handles are. A rod of same length but different brand will be 2" or more longer from where the reel sits to the tip.

We do repairs for our local fishermen... lots of guide repairs on those. Both guides breaking off and pulling out from under the wraps.

Fortunately, there is some ROI with providing this service not only on the additional ancillary work, but also the opportunity to give these same Duckett owners a direct contact to owning a quality ALX rod.

I have seen several of the green ones snap on the hook set. The more expensive ones do fine.
