1/17/25 ice report

So it was a pretty nice afternoon and I was off work at a good time so thought I would try a little ice fishing.Had to get my new license on the app and got that done quickly and headed out to a lake I know pretty good. I didn’t think the ice had great color but once on and started drilling a few test holes it was 6” to 8” of good ice. Sill had my life jacket and ice picks though. (Auto inflation jacket) I got right over a brush pile and dropped in. I actually saw a small bass looking at the bait lol but no luck. 3 other guys came and we all kinda talked and fished close. They caught a bass each but I never got anything, bummer. They left to go to Secret farm ponds that they say are gold mines!! Poor me left to fish public water! It was good to be out but I couldn’t feel the cold weather moving in. I don’t think I’ll go out tomorrow with the wind and bitter cold coming this weekend but will see in the morning. I would sure like a few nice pan fish to eat soon.

If I had secret farm ponds I’d never fish anywhere else. Miss those days

I know right!! Some of them are so good. Those fish have never seen anything!
