Baccarac in January: Tackle - what and *how much* to bring?

As the title states, I'm headed to Baccarac in January for 5 days of fishing (6 nights). I couldn't be more excited, but I suspect like a lot who go for their first time, I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out what to bring along. I'm almost embarrassed to make this post as I'm normally a guy who preaches simplicity, probably to a fault, yet here I sit wringing my hands about getting there and not having whatever happens to be the magic bait or color.

I feel like I'm pretty well-sorted on rods and reels...it's the baits and lures that I'm struggling with. I even have a starting point of what to bring from the lodge, I just have no frame of reference for how much of that stuff to bring along. I'm also probably thinking waaay too much about colors.

For those that have been: What is the water clarity generally? How many packs of 6" and 7" Senkos am I going to go through? What about lizards and 10" worms? How important is it really for me to bring watermelon red (which I don't use at home) instead of green pumpkin (which I already have since I use it almost exclusively)? What about their suggested brush and/or football jigs--do I need to bring 30, or will 10 be enough? Anything you brought too much of, or anything you forgot or wished you had more of?

Maybe there's some type A personality out there that made a packing list that has worked for them who wants to share it?

I'll take any and all advice!

I've been a number of times. 17lb line minimum in my opinion. Are you staying at a place on the lake? If so, they should be able to tell you what the fish are biting a few days before your trip. If the fish are biting you can go through a lot of Senkos. Deep diving crankbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits are also likely baits you may need.

I can offer you no useful information, Drew, but I can tell you that I am extremely jealous! Hope you catch 'em really good when you go.

The last video I saw of Baccarac, the Helicopter Lure was tearing them up.

I went in end of January 98. Fish were post spawn already. Caught some big ones on a Rico Spinnerbait was good. Flukes were good. Caught them on a lot of techniques. My big fish was a 9.9 on a jig

Big lizards, big power worms, big cranks and chrome rattle traps, 2.5” pop r, chartreuse buzz baits and 17lb min, 20lb is better.

Been fishing Mexico bass every winter since ‘96. His advice is dead-on.

Get intel from the lodge closer to the trip.
