    Replacing cockpit flooring

Has anyone replaced their carpet with any of the new stuff out there today like hydro turf?

I am waiting on my new Phoenix 20XE which is now at the dealer. I looked at Xpress Aluminum Bass boats before I made the decision to order a Phoenix, the reason for that was Seadeck,
I checked it out, and decided against it for many reasons, When I ordered my Phoenix I had it built with carpet in the cockpit instead of the Seadeck version that Phoenix installs. Why because
the color gets dirty real quick, and is not that easy to clean. As much as we bitch about carpet a couple cans of Barbasol shave cream and a strong hose makes them look like new, My proof
is that Xpress for 2024 went to a much darker version of the Seadeck, That is very telling. There may be other products out there that I don't know about, but the one thing I do know is
until the carpet gets really dirty I don't have to put water in my boat, with the Seadeck I would have to do that every day, because it shows everything.

I think it's good in theory but hear too many talking about sea-deck material showing everything and foot prints from even what appear to be clean shoes. I think the newness of this material will wear off in freshwater application and bass boats will be back to all carpet for the ease of use. I just don't buy "quick drying" being a selling factor. Now in the salt world where you rinse your boat every time out anyways, I think it makes a lot of sense.

Love the floor on my Caymas cockpit. That where I land a fish if I see blood on it. Quick wipe with a wet towel and it's gone.

There are companies that make a closed cell material instead of open cell like SeaDek - that's what I'm putting in my Phoenix in the cockpit, compartments, rod lockers etc.

Yeah, Ranger used a much different product as well. Did not show dirt nearly as much. The seadeck is the most comfortable pad that I know of. I hate a wet boat and carpet in the cockpit takes forever to dry.

I am right in the middle of replacing the carpet with SeaDek. I had them come in and measure with their computer it was cool to see it done. The worst part was removing the glue residue with acetone. I just could not stand how long the carpet remained wet.
