    4 stroke prop change

So I’ve owned many two strokes and changed props many times but I’m a little confused about the new four strokes. It’s a 2023 225 Pro XS and I want to try my Fury 4 blade to see how it runs. After taking off the new prop it’s a different setup than I’m used to. My old flo torq hub pops out after you give it a tap. The new Fury is almost like pressed in and doesn’t move. I’m nervous about messing it up. If I had the large washer behind the prop with my old kit I think I’d be fine but I don’t. Any suggestions of what parts I need or am I just missing something on the new prop??IMG_0212.jpegIMG_0213.jpegIMG_0214.jpeg

The hub is removable. Takes some force . I made a puller with a threaded rod, a huge socket and a 2x6 with a hole cut in it.

I’ve knocked mine with a dead-blow without success. Had to use a jack, a socket (spacer), and my truck’s bumper to slowly press it out.

Buy a wooden dowel rod (1 1/2” if I remember correctly) cut it down to a small manageable length then use that as a punch with a hammer to drive the hub out. I place the bell of the prop up on a couple 2x4’s with enough room for the hub to pass through. It takes some force to get that hub out but by using the wooden dowel you can really get into it without fear of marring or deforming your hub. Lots of ways to skin this cat but this is what’s worked great for me!

I use a deep well socket and a 12 lb sledgehammer. Elevate it to prevent damaging the ears. Still takes quite a bit of force but it will come out.

Thanks y’all I appreciate the answers but I know my luck when it comes to something like this and I’m gonna take the other route. Talked to my dealer and he said I’d be better off ordering a new hub because it’s hard for them apparently too. That way I’ll already have it in place as a spare so if I’m fishing a tournament it’ll be a quick change of the props.
    Makes sense to me.

yep. Hubs are relatively inexpensive compared to damaging a prop.

Those new hubs are very tough to remove. I would have my doubts I could get it done on a beach somewhere if I blew a prop and had to swap hubs in my spare. Bought an extra hub kit to keep in the spare for that reason.

I need to do that. After I changed props, I thought the same thing. Changing in my garage pretty easy, on the water it would be tough.
