As of 9/26/2022, Mercury has issued Service Bulletin 2022-19 stating that the listed engines will be permitted to use a Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery that is designed for engine cranking, as long as it meets the listed specifications:
-2.1L 75-115hp Fourstroke, ProXS and SeaPro Models
-3.0L 150hp Fourstroke, ProXS and SeaPro
-4.6L V8 and 3.4L V6 175-300hp Fourstroke, ProXS, SeaPro and Verado Models
-2.6L L6 200-400 Pro and Verado Models
-7.6L V12 500-600hp SeaPro and Verado Models.
-NO other engines approved at this time.
Minimum Specs Required:
-Chemistry/Format: Lithium IRON Phosphate designed for MARINE CRANKING USE.
-Minimum Cranking Amps: 800A for 8 second minimum @ 20 Degrees F
-Peak Charge Acceptance: 165A at 20-130 degrees F for one minute
-Max Charge Alternator Size: 150A at 20-130 degrees F
-Max Charge Voltage/Alternator Output: 14.8V
-Reserve Capacity (RC25 @ 80F): 135 Minutes
-Ingress Protection (IP rating): IP67 or greater.
Cautions that use at temperatures below 32F may require additional equipment such as a battery heater.
Bulletin also lists a Relion Battery that has been evaluated and meets the above requirements: RB100-HP.

Hey Drew. I looked at your site and lithium hub and the Starter Batteries aren’t listed anymore. Scratching my head since I just bought lithiums and swear I saw the starting batteries and their specs a few weeks ago while browsing your site. I know these new specs put some of the batteries out there out of spec so hoping this doesn’t mess people up.
If I looked good in spandex and my boats paint had glitter, I’d fish for bass.
Luckily the Crappie, Stripers and Tuna don’t seem to care.............. BigBry

bad link but thanks. I’ve been on their site this evening. Maybe their data sheets are there but couldn’t find them. The 125 cranking battery is nowhere to be found on the internet. Believe me I just spent countless hours shopping before pulling the trigger a few weeks ago and saw a zillion ionic cranking battery adds lol. Maybe they’ve sold out with the news. I did dig through Relion on the RB100 HP and found the data sheet. You have to back door it. Not on the product page anymore if anyones looking for it. The new mercury specs are exactly what is listed on the Relion spec sheet. Very surprising. The 156 amp peak charge rate seems like the spec to meet and maybe all the batteries meet that spec and it’s different than the max amp charge rate all manufacturers seem to list. Maybe I’m just missing something here.

The first paragraph on the spec sheet for the 125 Ionic only list 150-250 HP Yamaha and Mercury motors. Does this mean that I should not use one on my Mercury 300 Verado pro? Thanks
I have customers running them on 300 and 400hp Verado's , Ionic does not list that because they have not done there own on the water test, I have sold many and they have been in use for going on 3 years now with zero issues

I use the 125AH battery on my 04 yamaha VMAX Efi and no issues at all!
would like to see an IP rating and the time that 900 CCA is rated for
WOW!!! So Relion took their specs off their site, Ionic doesn’t offer a starting battery on their site. Impulse is max 80 amps charge rate. 14.8 volts peak voltage will shutdown most BMS’s. Brunswick owns Mercury AND Relion Battery Corp. Oh My…………. This is going to get EXTREMELY MESSY

So according to what I clearly read in these specs ( the actual specs for the RB100HP before they disappeared) the RB-100 hp DOES NOT meet MERCURYS approved standards. ( 3 fails). What gives MERCURY?

maybe you need to go read the actual data sheet link that I posted for the rb100 hp before they changed it to suit there standards. Seems the specs magically changed. What they didn't account for was the real data sheet being still posted on. RELIONS dealers sites. Bloodman gets it.....
